Press On (2)

Matthew 4....It has been written, man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.

Day after day we can easily get caught up in one event after another. There always seems to be something that requires our undivided attention. For many of us, once our feet touch the floor in the morning, our daily activities are non- stop. Due to our day to day hustle the quality time we'd like to spend with God is sometimes put off for an hour that never seems to arrive.

For a while I could get up without an alarm clock and spend my first hours of the day with him. As I took on more hours at work getting up independently became an option of the past.

I began setting my alarm clock and then found myself laying there to pray of course, yet, I'd fall back asleep. I continued to adjust my schedule because when I miss a day of meeting God in his word I found myself getting irritated and agitated with my surroundings. I've learned that no matter what's going on in my life he must be my first priority.

John 6:35
Jesus replied I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trust in and relies on Me will never thirst anymore.

Psalm 130:5
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.

Press On (1)

I've never run track yet everyday appears to have a different obstacle or hurdle that must be crossed. The challenge of pressing forward sometimes seems unbearable, when looking to a finish line that's not quite clear in view. Observing life's little opponents or hindrances can easily cause one to lose focus. What's ingested is not always easily digested. Learning to be aware of ones surroundings is important yet we must also be aware of the things we allow to capture our attention, thoughts and progress. As in a race we shouldn't look to the left or the right but remain focus, with his word as our guide, spirit as our strength, and song of praise in our hearts. Lets us reach our goal by crossing the finish line victoriously.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
1 Corinthians 9:24

O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
Psalm 98:1-3

New School Prayer

Written by a 15 year old school kid in Ohio:

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites, It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow Becomes a Federal matter now. ?
Our hair can be purple, orange or green, That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise..
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. ?
For praying in a public hall Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the state. ?
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks, And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks..
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong, We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong. We can get our condoms and birth controls, Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed, No word of God must reach this crowd. ?
It's scary here I must confess, When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make: Should I be shot; My soul please take!
If you aren't ashamed to do this, Please pass this on.
Jesus said, 'If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father.'

Why Me

...then His disciples came and they wondered (were surprised astonished) to find Him talking with a woman [a married woman]. John 4:27

Can't you just see them whispering and wondering why Jesus was talking to this woman. I'm sure in there eyes she wasn't worthy of His time. Let's face it this woman had been married five times and was living with a man. I don't believe they knew her history but what they did know about her, and according to there customs, Jesus conversation with her could be seen a inappropriate.

Sometimes it good to keep your mouth shut.

They hadn't heard the conversation that transpired prior to them reaching Jesus. They were curious but wise enough not to question Him. Soon they would see the results of one woman's testimony about a man who told her everything about herself.

When you seen your Christian friend talking to someone who's not saved. I advise you to do as the disciple's did. Keep quiet. That friend may be witnessing to someone who will in return find Jesus and witness to someone else.

John 4:28-30
28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went away into the city, and saith to the people,
29 Come, see a man, who told me all things that ever I did: can this be the Christ?
30 They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
